Section 1 A - 2 recap November 5, 2013
Pelham Memorial was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from 10th to eighth in Section 1 A - 2. The Pelicans beat Westlake 16-13 earlier in the week.
Beacon moved up to 285 from 324 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of besting Spring Valley 28-20.
Sleepy Hollow's dynamic duo of Devin Lopez and Dan Chevere proved tough for Yorktown to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lopez threw for 277 yards and 4 touchdowns and Chevere had 120 yards receiving. Mike Fortugno helped Sleepy Hollow's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 50 yards.
He went 18-32 with 1 interception.
Justin Davidov has thrown for 1,592 yards and 19 touchdowns this season, while James Johnson has 21 catches for 491 yards. Davidov also leads the league in rushing with 1,144 yards.
The top two teams in Section 1 A - 2 will face off this week when first place Rye takes on second place Somers. Rye defeated Tappan Zee last week, while Somers bested Ossining.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Tuskers take on the Garnets. Somers has allowed 106 points this season, while Rye has given up 80. Tony DeMatteo's team allowed 14 points last week as it beat Ossining.
Dino Garr's team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Dutchmen, 28-7. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Garnets.
