The Amador Valley Dons will head out to challenge the James Logan Colts at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Amador Valley came up short against Monte Vista and fell 7-4.
McKenna Charbonneau made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Riya Sharda was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, James Logan entered their tilt with Kennedy on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Titans a 14-0 shutout. With that win, the Colts brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Corynn Gracey tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Medellin, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Janessa Parras also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
James Logan lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
James Logan's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Amador Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Amador Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like James Logan struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Amador Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over James Logan when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
