Branford dropped down to 8-6 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Dixie County Bears, falling 9-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Buccaneers have suffered since February 12th.
Branford saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keaton Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Dixie County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The result was nothing new for Dixie County, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
On Dixie County's side, Connor Corbin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Corbin posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other pitching news, Trey Lawson tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
Coming up, Branford will welcome Hamilton County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Trojans have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Dixie County, they will square off against Williston at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
