After only seven points in their last game, The Gardner-Edgerton Trailblazers made sure to put some points up on the board against the Olathe South Falcons on Friday. Gardner-Edgerton breezed by Olathe South at home to the tune of 53-21. The result was nothing new for Gardner-Edgerton, who have now won six matches by 29 points or more so far this season.
Gardner-Edgerton can attribute much of their success to Dylan Butash, who rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Nehemiah Snype, who rushed for 71 yards and two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Olathe South lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bryce Noernberg. Despite the final result, he rushed for 213 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Noernberg was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards.
Gardner-Edgerton's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Olathe South, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gardner-Edgerton will take on Blue Valley North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Blue Valley North comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Olathe South, they will be playing at home against Shawnee Mission South at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shawnee Mission South is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
