La Joya and McAllen are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The two teams will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (La Joya 3.8, McAllen 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
La Joya barely beat McAllen Memorial the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went La Joya's way against McAllen Memorial on Friday as La Joya made off with a 13-5 win. The victory continues a trend for the Coyotes in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won seven in a row.

La Joya got a great performance from Hunter Morales as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts Morales has posted since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, Rolando Solis was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Ortiz, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
La Joya kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, McAllen was able to grind out a solid win over King on Friday, taking the game 7-3.
Maddox Braxton and Geovoni Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Braxton scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Rodriguez scored a run while going 1-for-1. Braxton also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
La Joya's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for McAllen, their win bumped their record up to 3-5-1.
La Joya skirted past McAllen 5-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Joya since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
