The Chaminade Eagles will be playing at home against the Villa Park Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Chaminade walked away with it. They secured a 39-35 W over Inglewood on Friday. The win was just what Chaminade needed coming off of a 44-6 defeat in their prior game.
Seth Shigg was on fire: he rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Shigg's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Another player making a difference was Niles Davis, who gained 121 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Villa Park entered their tilt with Millikan with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Villa Park walked away with a 28-21 victory over Millikan on Friday. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but Villa Park was the (much) better team in the second half.
Dominic Ancich and Carter Christie were among the main playmakers for Villa Park as the former rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns and the latter rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns.
Chaminade now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Villa Park, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Chaminade has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 185.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Villa Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging 182.5 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
