The Holdenville Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 25 points or more this season. They really took it to Meeker for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-35 victory at home. Given Holdenville's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Meeker is ranked 375th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Holdenville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bella Smith led the charge by scoring 17 points. That's the first time this season that Smith scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Cylee Null, who scored 13 points.
Holdenville pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Meeker, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Holdenville will be home for the holidays to greet Wilson-Henryetta at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meeker will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chandler at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
