The Campo Verde Coyotes stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mountain Pointe 58-30 on the road. Given Campo Verde's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Mountain Pointe is ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kelsey Watts was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kdynce Parks, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Mountain Pointe lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alexis Emerson-Berryhill. Despite the final result, she scored ten points along with five steals. Emerson-Berryhill is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Amiyah Dedrick was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Campo Verde has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Mountain Pointe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-20.
Campo Verde will head out on the road to face off against Casa Grande at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mountain Pointe, they will be playing at home against Higley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Higley is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
