The Beekmantown Eagles won the last time they faced the Saranac Lake Red Storm, and things went their way on Thursday too. Beekmantown secured a 45-41 W over the Red Storm. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Beekmantown has scored all year.
Despite the loss, Saranac Lake still got an impressive performance from Caleb Akey, who scored 27 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Akey hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Melvin Cirikovic was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Beekmantown has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Saranac Lake, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.
Beekmantown will head out on the road to face off against the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Plattsburgh is on a five-game streak of home wins, the Eagles a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Saranac Lake will take on the Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New York (Ticonderoga is ranked 424th, while the Red Storm are ranked 429th).
