The Logan Grizzlies will venture away from home to square off against the West Field Longhorns at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Logan is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Green Canyon on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-2 victory. The Grizzlies haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Norah Zundel was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Zundel was also big at the plate, earning two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jayzanna Pauni and Rachel Porter did most of the damage at the plate: Pauni got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four RBI and one run, while Porter went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave Porter a new career-high. Leila Pauni was another key player, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
Logan hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Green Canyon struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for West Field, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Sky View 16-1 on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Longhorns needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Brylee Leatherwood was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Ella Doxey, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
West Field has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Logan, their record now sits at 11-8.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Logan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like West Field struggles in that department as they've averaged .396. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Logan couldn't quite finish off West Field in their previous meeting back in March and fell 8-6. Can the Grizzlies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
