Last Saturday, The Webb Schools got the win against San Jacinto Valley Academy by a conclusive 43-18. The result was nothing new for The Webb Schools, who have now won three matchups by 25 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead The Webb Schools to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaj Grayson, who threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayan Kaushal, who picked up 181 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, California Military Institute blew past Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School, posting a 52-16 victory at home.
California Military Institute found their leader in underclassman Manuel Velasquez, who rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Ivan Iniguez was another key contributor, rushing for 108 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Their wins bumped The Webb Schools to 5-1 and California Military Institute to 3-4.
Saturday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. The Webb Schools has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 151 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like California Military Institute struggles in that department as they've been even better at 182.4 per game. It's looking like Saturday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for The Webb Schools against California Military Institute when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 40-0 win. Will The Webb Schools repeat their success, or does California Military Institute have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
