The third road matchup was the charm for the Mesa Vista Trojans, as they earned their first road win of the season. Everything went their way against Non Varsity Opponent on Saturday as Mesa Vista made off with a 74-54 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mesa Vista also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2019.
Tana Lopez was her usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with eight steals. The game was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kylie Torrez , who scored five points along with five rebounds.
The win got Mesa Vista back to even at 2-2. As for Non Varsity Opponent, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 36-72.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mesa Vista and Pecos will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Pecos is ranked 74th, while Mesa Vista is ranked 49th). As for Non Varsity Opponent, they will head out on the road to face off against C.H. Yoe at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. C.H. Yoe will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
