It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Thompson Warriors had no problem doing just that on Friday. Everything went their way against Vestavia Hills as Thompson made off with a 34-14 win. Thompson might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Thompson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trent Seaborn, who threw for 291 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Seaborn has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aj Green, who rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.1 yards per carry.
Despite the loss, Vestavia Hills still got an impressive performance from John Paul Head, who rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 137 yards and a touchdown.
The victory was the sixth in a row for Thompson, bringing their record for this year to 10-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.7 points per game. As for Vestavia Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
Thompson will take on Hewitt-Trussville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hewitt-Trussville is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. Vestavia Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
