The Strawberry Crest Chargers suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They were dealt a 66-15 loss at the hands of Wharton. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Strawberry Crest in their matchups with Wharton: they've now lost five in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Strawberry Crest lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jenna Tia. Despite the final result, she scored seven points.
Wharton found their leader in underclassman Sydney Hurst, who scored 13 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hurst has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Maggio, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Strawberry Crest has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Wharton, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Strawberry Crest will square off against Sickles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wharton, Wharton and Robinson will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Robinson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 219th, while Wharton is ranked 91st).
