Lamar County is 9-1 against the Tigers since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Lamar County Trojans will look to defend their home court against the Temple Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lamar County came tearing into Saturday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 71-19 victory over Lake Oconee Academy at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-10.
It was another big night for Shakiria Foster, who scored 26 points along with four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Lamar County's points. Makayla Watts was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Temple blew past the Eagles, posting a 59-30 victory at home. Given Temple's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Eagles are ranked 470th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lamar County's victory bumped their record up to 19-5. As for Temple, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.
