Hicks had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Plainview on Thursday. The Pirates put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Hicks is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Plainview, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.

Coming up, Hicks is taking a road trip to square off against Oak Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Plainview, they will head out to take on Reeves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.05 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
