Lutheran-Northeast and Howells-Dodge are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Lutheran-Northeast Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Howells-Dodge Jaguars on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Lutheran-Northeast blew Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] out of the water the last time the pair played, but on FridaySummerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] got their revenge. Lutheran-Northeast fell just short of Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] by a score of 49-46.
Lutheran-Northeast's loss came about despite a quality game from Josh Rojas, who scored 17 points. Rojas is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Braden Feddern was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lutheran-Northeast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] only pulled down three offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Howells-Dodge unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 38-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pender. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Howells-Dodge has scored all season.
Lutheran-Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Howells-Dodge, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-4.
Lutheran-Northeast barely slipped by Howells-Dodge in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 38-37. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Howells-Dodge's Lance Brester, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Lutheran-Northeast to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
