They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-51 victory over Penns Manor on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Marion Center also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Marion Center's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Pack, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamden Rozier, who scored 13 points along with two steals and two blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Penns Manor lost, one person who can't be blamed is Carter Smith. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. Smith hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Amin Lieb, who scored two points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Marion Center's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Penns Manor, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marion Center will take on the Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Pennsylvania (Homer-Center is ranked 514th, while the Stingers are ranked 524th). As for Penns Manor, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. North Star is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season.
