Ripon extended the longest winning streak in Trans Valley this week by beating Modesto Christian, 52-0. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Escalon was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. The Cougars defeated Hughson 28-18 earlier in the week.
Phillip Kimble and Nathan Chunn gave Escalon a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Kimble threw for 106 yards and two touchdowns, while Chunn ran for 229 yards. Teammate Jason Robbins added to the ground attack by rushing for 41 yards.
Bernardo Duran was the best wideout in the league this week as Hilmar bested Orestimba. Duran tallied one reception for 41 yards. Tyler Robinson helped Hilmar's passing attack out by catching one ball for 13 yards.
5-foot-9 quarterback Kyle Wengel of Ripon is the league leader in passing yards this season with 820. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, the Warriors' Steven Machado has rushed for 1293 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Ernie Esquivez. The Orestimba star has 20 catches for 352 yards.
Chunn of the Mark Loureiro's team is only 89 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 157 carries Chunn has accumulated 911 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Cougars take on Aaron Souza's team. Escalon is currently in fourth, while the Warriors are in second.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Chris Johnson's team takes on the Huskies. The Indians have allowed 51 points this season, while Hughson has given up 70. Ripon allowed 0 points last week as it topped the Crusaders.
The Indians moved up to 155 from 218 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Ripon climbed the ranks as a result of a 52-0 win over Modesto Christian.
