Baseball Recap: Highlands Wins Going Away Against Bellevue

Highlands won the last time they faced Bellevue and things went their way on Friday too. The Bluebirds blew past the Tigers 11-0. Considering the Bluebirds have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Highlands got a great performance from Patrick Davidson as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Davidson a new career-high.

At the plate, Highlands let Adam Forton and Nolan Schwalbach run wild. Forton went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Schwalbach went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Forton has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Iain Carner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

The win made it two in a row for Highlands and bumps their season record up to 11-5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Bellevue, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highlands will square off against Boone County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bellevue, they will take on Dayton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
