West Greene and Waynesburg Central are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. West Greene will be playing in front of their home fans against Waynesburg Central at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Greene is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
West Greene took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Avonworth, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. West Greene won by a run and slipped past Avonworth 4-3. The four-run effort marked the Pioneers' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Payton Gilbert made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Emmaline Beazell was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kylee Davis, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Waynesburg Central can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over Jefferson-Morgan.
Like West Greene, Waynesburg Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Gina Tedrow. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Tedrow also tossed ten walks, marking her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bre Kerr, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Kylee Schaum was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Waynesburg Central lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for West Greene, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. West Greene hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. However, it's not like Waynesburg Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .375. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
