Cedar Valley is 0-6 against Springville since April of 2024 but things could change on Friday. The Aviators are taking a road trip to take on the Red Devils at 3:30 p.m. Cedar Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Cedar Valley was handed a 15-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Weber, sneaking past 6-4.
Centry Lundberg was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Lundberg was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aspen Langi, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Takuilau Wolfgramm was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Cedar Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Springville won against Wasatch on Tuesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Red Devils blew past Payson 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Like Cedar Valley, Springville also got a great game from a two-way player: Allyx Haveron. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Haveron has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Kalia Sjoberg was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jaz Ciliezar, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The victory was the third in a row for Springville, bringing their record up to 17-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cedar Valley, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Cedar Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Springville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Cedar Valley might still be hurting after the 17-4 loss they got from Springville in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Aviators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
