The Desert Pines Jaguars will head out on the road to challenge the Durango Trailblazers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Desert Pines and 13 for the Trailblazers.
Desert Pines fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Wildcats on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 64-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, Durango pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The match between them and Silverado wasn't particularly close, with Durango falling 85-66. While losing is never fun, Durango can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while the Skyhawks are ranked eighth).
Desert Pines has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Durango, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-20.
Desert Pines came up short against the Trailblazers in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 77-73. Can Desert Pines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
