Ashley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the North Mecklenburg Vikings at 3:00 p.m. on December 29th. Hopefully Ashley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
On Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Ashley beat Fairmont 40-34. The victory was just what Ashley needed coming off of a 48-22 defeat in their prior game.
MacKenzie Morton and Alaina Boos were among the main playmakers for Ashley as the former scored 13 points and the latter scored 11 points along with nine rebounds. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for her. Jaeden Hudson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, North Mecklenburg sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-40 win over Northern Guilford on Thursday. The win was all the more spectacular given North Mecklenburg's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Northern Guilford is ranked 14th).
Ashley's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for North Mecklenburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
