Softball Recap: Hondo Wins Going Away Against Dilley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cotulla, Hondo was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Dilley Wolves. The win continues a trend for the Owls in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won five in a row.

Rebecca Rubio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

At the plate, Ainsley Bohlen was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Kristyn Ybarra was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

Hondo now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Dilley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hondo is set to challenge their familiar foe Crystal City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Dilley will take on rival Lytle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
