The Discovery Canyon Thunder can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 48-29 win over Cheyenne Mountain. Discovery Canyon pushed the score to 41-21 by the end of the third, a deficit Cheyenne Mountain cut but never quite recovered from.
Discovery Canyon can attribute much of their success to Natalie Neuhaus, who scored 13 points along with five steals. Neuhaus continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Hulse, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Cheyenne Mountain's loss came despite strong showings from Ainsley Norton and Vianey Garcia-ramos. Norton scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Garcia-ramos scored eight points along with two steals. That was a full 34.5% of Cheyenne Mountain's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Discovery Canyon's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-13. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 15 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Discovery Canyon will challenge Lewis-Palmer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Discovery Canyon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they will head out on the road to face off against Palmer Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cheyenne Mountain is coming into the game with four straight defeats on the road, meaning Palmer Ridge will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
