The Gunn Titans will square off against the Notre Dame Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gunn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Gunn had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Silver Creek on Monday. Gunn put the hurt on Silver Creek with a sharp 18-5 win. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Violet Hayes made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Hayes was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Makena Smith and Anna Brown did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went 2-for-6 with five RBI, two runs, and one double, while Brown scored three runs while going 4-for-6. Those four hits gave Brown a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lupita Flores Amaro, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI.
Gunn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame is still undefeated this season after their game against Valley Christian last Monday, but Valley Christian came as close as anyone has to beating them. Notre Dame came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against Valley Christian. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted against the Warriors since March 13, 2015.
Allison Lui spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Notre Dame saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Claire Kimball, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Stella Hird also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Notre Dame pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Gunn, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Gunn hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Notre Dame struggles in that department as they've averaged .364. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Gunn might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Notre Dame in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Will Gunn have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
