The Manchester Squires will head out to square off against the Southwood Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Manchester will be strutting in after a victory while Southwood will be coming in after a defeat.
Manchester's tournament run continued when they took on Triton on Saturday. The Squires were the clear victors by a 20-3 margin over the Trojans. The win continues a trend for the Squires in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won seven in a row.
Allie Egolf made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Izzy Renz was incredible, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Hadley West was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Manchester kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Southwood didn't have quite enough to beat Oak Hill on Saturday and fell 4-3. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Natalie Sutphin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Rowan Goodpasture made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Rylee Thomas, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
The victory got Manchester back to even at 12-12. As for Southwood, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Manchester has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Southwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Manchester suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Southwood in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Squires avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
