Baseball Recap: Naples' Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Naples barely beat Cypress Lake the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Naples Golden Eagles never let the Cypress Lake Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

CHASE BAKER tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He has become a key player for Naples: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 3-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Naples let NICO BLANCO and CHARLIE REIGER run wild. BLANCO scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while REIGER scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Naples is 4-2 when BLANCO posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of JACKSON MARTIN, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Naples was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cypress Lake only posted a batting average of .062.

The win made it two in a row for Naples and bumps their season record up to 6-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Cypress Lake, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Naples and Cypress Lake could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Naples will take on Island Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday down 356 places (431 vs. 75). Similarly, Cypress Lake (ranked 442nd) will meet Mariner (ranked 102nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
