Bryant and Cabot are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Bryant Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Cabot Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Bryant is coming into the game hot, having won their last 23 games.
Bryant and Central (ranked 75 and 78 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile matchup. Bryant sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-50 victory over Central on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 17-17 at the break, but Bryant was the better team in the second half.
Bryant's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camarion Bead, who scored 14 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Bead has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Trent Ford, who scored 11 points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Cabot fought the good fight in their overtime match against Little Rock Southwest on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 68-67 to the Gryphons. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Bryant's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-2. As for Cabot, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.
Bryant lost to Cabot on the road by a decisive 63-47 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Bryant avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
