Jacob Stehley made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Gavin Klausmeyer was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Collegiate's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 10-13 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, Cheney came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on Conway Springs with a sharp 13-0 victory. The result was nothing new for Cheney, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Collegiate, Cheney also got a great game from a two-way player: Cameron Eastman. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Eastman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Josh Burdick was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and one stolen base. AJ Quick was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
Cheney always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Collegiate's record is now 12-14. As for Cheney, their record now sits at 20-5.
