It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Mission Bay Buccaneers can now relate to. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 30-14 to Grossmont.
Isaac Aceves had a dynamite game for Grossmont, rushing for 244 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Herber, who threw for 83 yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Grossmont's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. Jacob Suter was especially locked on to Mission Bay's QB and sacked him twice.
Mission Bay has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season. As for Grossmont, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
Mission Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Grossmont will square off against La Jolla Country Day at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. La Jolla Country Day is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
