Frederica Academy and the Valwood Valiants squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly Frederica Academy had to settle for second. They suffered a tough 56-30 defeat at the hands of the Valiants. Frederica Academy's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Frederica Academy still got an impressive performance from Jordan Triplett, who rushed for 316 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 46 yards and a touchdown on only three passes. Triplett is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. Rico Holmes was in the mix too, providing Frederica Academy with two touchdowns.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marquis Fennell, who rushed for 187 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries. Fennell was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 69 yards. Triston White was another major influence, as he rushed for 135 yards and ran in a TD.
Frederica Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Valwood, they have yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record.
Frederica Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Valwood will head out on the road to face off against John Milledge Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. John Milledge Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
