Cheyenne Sammons tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, Maggie Voliva was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jayci Alba, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Andrean kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whiting only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, Hebron sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Wheeler on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won four in a row.
Addison Toczek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Toczek was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Macey Siminski, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
Andrean has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Hebron, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.
Hebron's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Andrean has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456. It's a different story for Hebron, though, as they've only averaged .356. Will they be able to contain Andrean's hitters?
Andrean beat Hebron 5-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Will the Fighting 59ers repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
