Basketball Recap: Laguna Beach Extends Winning Streak to Three

Laguna Beach had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They took down the San Jacinto Tigers 59-43.

Laguna Beach's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Azadian, who posted 21 points. Azadian has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Cheng, who put up 14 points.

When it comes to explaining why San Jacinto lost, don't look at Josiah Mejia. Despite the final result, he had 13 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Norman, who posted ten points.

Laguna Beach has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for San Jacinto, their loss dropped their record down to 5-6.

Laguna Beach is taking a road trip to square off against Northwood at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. Northwood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for San Jacinto, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Tahquitz at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th.
