Basketball Recap: Spanish River Comes Up Short

Spanish River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Seminole Ridge Hawks, falling 67-33. While losing is never fun, the Sharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 475th, while the Hawks are ranked 66th).

Spanish River's loss came despite strong showings from Samantha Solodkin and Ellie Neuman. Solodkin posted six points along with seven boards and four blocks, while Neuman had 12 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Those four blocks gave Solodkin a new career-high.

Spanish River's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Seminole Ridge, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Spanish River will face off against Wellington at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Seminole Ridge, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-39 win against Dwyer on the 6th.
