After flying high against the Crooms Academy Panthers last Thursday, the Legacy Charter Eagles came back down to earth. Legacy Charter took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cornerstone Charter Academy on Wednesday. Legacy Charter was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cornerstone Charter Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ashlyn Kraus, who scored 19 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Mallory Daniels, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Grace Jervis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cornerstone Charter Academy, scoring 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Aalisha Jackson was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Legacy Charter bumped their record down to 2-4 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Legacy Charter will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mount Dora at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Cornerstone Charter Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Master's Academy at 5:00 p.m. on December 21st. Master's Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
