The South Lake Eagles will challenge the Viera Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
South Lake took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Osceola a 5-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Kowboys: they've now won five in a row.

Zoie Rogers was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Watson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Makiah Palacio was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
South Lake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Osceola only managed three hits.
Meanwhile, Viera waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They skirted past the War Eagles 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted since April 29, 2024.
Riley Makousky spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Tori Berry was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Cozzie Cozzolino, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Viera's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for South Lake, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South Lake hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. However, it's not like Viera struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South Lake couldn't quite get it done against Viera in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
