Clio has gone a perfect 7-0 against Flushing recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Mustangs will challenge the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Clio has five straight victories, Flushing has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Clio will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Goodrich, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Mustangs walked away with an 8-5 win over the Martians on Wednesday.
Addie Taylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, Ashlyn LaFreniere was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted over her last eight games. Another player making a difference was Evey Wagner, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Clio hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Goodrich struck out 13 times.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Flushing's offense. They lost 19-0 to Central on Tuesday.
Clio's victory bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Flushing, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-18.
Flushing's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Clio has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. It's a different story for Flushing, though, as they've only averaged .352. Will they be able to contain Clio's hitters?
Clio got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2021 against Flushing by a conclusive 18-3 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
