Having just played yesterday, the Gillespie Miners will jump right back in to play the Litchfield Purple Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gillespie is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Gillespie pushed their score all the way to 60 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Alton-Wood River. Gillespie has not had much luck with East Alton-Wood River recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, Litchfield wrapped up 2023 with a 54-35 victory over Carlinville. The win made it back-to-back wins for Litchfield.
Gillespie has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Litchfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Gillespie didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Litchfield in their previous matchup back in February, but they still walked away with a 69-64 victory.
