The Benjamin Franklin Chargers came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Bourgade Catholic 58-43. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 12 more assists than your opponent, as Benjamin Franklin did.
Leading Benjamin Franklin to victory were Brianna Martin and Madeline Falls. Martin dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Falls scored 18 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. Lissa Adams was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven steals and six assists.
Bourgade Catholic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Juliet Botiller, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Botiller scored a full 32.6% of Bourgade Catholic's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nizhoni Rainbolt, who scored ten points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Benjamin Franklin is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. As for Bourgade Catholic, they have fallen quite a ways from their 21-4 record last season and are now at 2-7.
Benjamin Franklin and Many Farms will face off at 4:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bourgade Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Williams at 1:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023.
