The Grace Christian Academy Lions fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Middle Tennessee Christian Cougars on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 59-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. Grace Christian Academy lost against Middle Tennessee Christian in their previous head to head last Saturday, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 58-31 score last time.
Middle Tennessee Christian found their leader in underclassman Anna clay Shirley, who scored 30 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Shirley has scored at least a third of Middle Tennessee Christian's points. Madison Graham was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Grace Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-8 record this season. As for Middle Tennessee Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace Christian Academy will square off against Goodpasture Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Goodpasture Christian will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Grace Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Middle Tennessee Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Ezell-Harding Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Tennessee (Ezell-Harding Christian is ranked 112th, while Middle Tennessee Christian is ranked 123rd).
