Marion County and Central are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Marion County Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Central Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Marion County and four for Central.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Marion County, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 33-16 loss to Hawkinsville. That's two games in a row now that Marion County has lost by exactly 17 points.
They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Sage Davis and
Valencia Alridge, who each put up five points.
Azariyah Dean held things down on the boards with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Central took a serious blow against Harris County on Friday, falling 86-12. While losing is never fun, Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 496th, while Harris County is ranked 133rd).
Marion County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Central, they bumped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Marion County was able to grind out a solid win over Central in their previous meeting back in January, winning 53-44. Will Marion County repeat their success, or does Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
