The Tyler Knights will head out to challenge the Weir Red Riders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Tyler will be strutting in after a victory while Weir will be coming in after a loss.
Tyler took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Cameron by a score of 7-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Brennon Miller made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Miller was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Brayden Neff was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Tyler's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-2 (and 8-14 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Heath Mason, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Tyler hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Weir fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Beaver Local on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Beavers by a score of 4-3. The Red Riders just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.
Teddy Glyptis made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Tyler's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-16. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Weir, their loss dropped their record down to 14-16.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tyler has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Weir struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
