In what's become a running theme this season, the Athens Hornets gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 10-1 margin over Cumberland Academy. It was an even better day for Anna Stovall as she scored four goals for her team.
Athens pushed their record up to 10-2-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 34 goals over those five contests. As for Cumberland Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Athens is on the road again on Tuesday and plays Van at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. Van's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end. As for Cumberland Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Grand Saline at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Cumberland Academy is facing Grand Saline at the right time seeing as Grand Saline is stuck on a eight-game losing streak.
