If Triton Regional was riding high  fresh off their  39-16 takedown of Ipswich last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vikings were just a  hair shy of victory  on Friday and fell  21-20 to the Newburyport Clippers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the  47-27 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in October of 2024.
 Triton Regional lost  despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was   Carl Lucy, who rushed for 120 yards and two  scores.  Everett Romano was another key player, rushing for 53 yards and one  touchdown.
 Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newburyport to victory, but perhaps none more so than   Bode Pessolano, who rushed for 64 yards and a pair of  TDs, and also threw for 162 yards and one  touchdown on only 13 passes.  Reid Tummala was  Pessolano's top target, picking up 52 receiving yards and one  score, while also rushing for 59 yards.
Triton Regional now  has a losing record of 3-4. As for Newburyport, their victory  ended  a  four-game drought at home  dating back to last season and  bumped them up to 2-5.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Triton Regional will  square off against  rival Essex Tech  at 6:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Newburyport is set to  challenge  their familiar foe North Reading  at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
