Cheyenne Cutright made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Rootstown let Katie Sisley and Lilly Kamenash run wild. Sisley went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Kamenash went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Reise Thomas, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.
Rootstown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kirtland only posted a batting average of .118.
Meanwhile, Chagrin Falls came up short against Berkshire on Tuesday, falling 8-1. The matchup marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Chagrin Falls saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoe Thompson, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that Thompson has snagged this season.
This is the second loss in a row for Chagrin Falls and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Rootstown, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
