North Thurston is 1-9 against Timberline since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Rams will welcome the Blazers at 4:00 p.m. North Thurston has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
North Thurston's last matchup with Peninsula could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Friday. The Rams came up short against the Seahawks, falling 13-3. The contest marked the Rams' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Sara Halterman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Timberline, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Capital 21-3 on Friday. The Blazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Madelyn Gilmore was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Timberline got a massive performance out of Kayleese Dorfner, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Brookelyn Read, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Timberline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Capital only posted an OBP of .286.
Timberline's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.9 runs over those games. As for North Thurston, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North Thurston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. However, it's not like Timberline struggles in that department as they've averaged .402. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
