Basketball Recap: Rabun County Beats Elbert County for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Rabun County waltzed into their game on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They really took it to the Elbert County Blue Devils for the full four quarters, racking up a 91-64 victory. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 25 points or more this season.

Leading Rabun County to victory were Huey Blalock and Reed Burrell. Blalock went 8 for 19 on his way to 24 points and five assists, while Burrell went 10 of 13 en route to 20 points and five rebounds. The contest was Blalock's third in a row with at least ten points. Kaleb Fisher also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first rebound of the season.

Rabun County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Elbert County lost, don't look at Aj Brown. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 boards. Brown has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Santavius Willis, who posted six points.

Rabun County pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.0 points per game. As for Elbert County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Rabun County has already played their next match, a 67-49 loss against Commerce on the 28th. Elbert County has also already played their next contest (against Providence Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
