Riesel is 9-1 against Wortham since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Riesel Indians will head out on the road to take on the Wortham Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Riesel and eight for Wortham.
Riesel suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 73-20 loss at the hands of Marlin. While losing is never fun, Riesel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1337th, while Marlin is ranked 508th).
Meanwhile, Wortham suffered a tough 48-22 loss at the hands of Axtell on Tuesday. Wortham was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-12.
Riesel has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Wortham, they bumped their record down to 4-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Riesel took their win against Wortham when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 59-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Riesel since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
